LA Galaxy trade for Atlanta United striker Miguel Berry
LA use their natural second round pick to acquire the 26-year-old forward
The LA Galaxy has acquired the player rights of 26-year-old striker Miguel Berry from Atlanta United in exchange for the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft.
“We are excited to work with Miguel and look forward to adding his attacking experience to our roster,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz. Berry recorded one goal in 27 games for Atlanta United in 2023.
The Barcelona native was selected no.7 overall in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew. Berry is no stranger to SoCal as he spent his college days at the University of San Diego and spent the 2020 season with San Diego Loyal in the USL Championship. In 2021, Berry recorded eight goals and one assist in 18 matches.
The LA Galaxy traded way striker Preston Judd last week and has already found his replacement. Like Judd, Berry will likely see little playing time as his primary role will be a depth-piece striker. The Spaniard has struggled to replicate his 2021 form since leaving the Crew—his stints at D.C. United and Atlanta United have lacked goalscoring. The LA Galaxy gets an excellent depth option with multiple years of MLS experience.
