The LA Galaxy suffered their most gut-punching loss of the season in their 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night at the hands of the Seattle Sounders.
There were notable changes in the backline with Julian Aude and Tony Alfaro making their first starts in some time. Mark Delgado missed the match due to concussion protocol and Eriq Zavaleta dealt with back spasms days leading into the game.
LA went down on the scoreboard first in the 9th minute of the game. The visitors lost the ball near their left corner flag and Jordan Morris scored through an uncontested header in the box.

The Galaxy was defending the point in the last 20 minutes of the game and held up pretty well. In the final minute of the game, Edwin Cerrillo lost his marker by watching the ball more than his marker and Cristian Roldan scored to win the game and clinch a playoff berth for the Sounders.
“To lose the point at the end is heartbreaking for the group. And just, again, for the effort that the guys put in, what they’ve continued to battle against all year, but even tonight, just looking at the microcosm of tonight. They’ve battled the situation where they had to get a point,” Vanney told reporters.
The Galaxy are not mathematically eliminated from playoff contention but they’ll need a lot of help.
A heartbreaker
The LA Galaxy's tendency to shoot themselves in the foot with poor mistakes has somewhat become an expectation in these last few games. Especially with 13 goals given up in the last four matches.
